Saving my way with the HSA
Having an HSA comes with some great perks, the biggest being the tax advantages. And who doesn’t love a tax break? Since I can contribute my pre-tax dollars, it reduces my tax liability, and I can change or stop my contributions anytime during the year. Plus, I don’t have to pay taxes on any growth in my account – or on Boeing’s contribution** – which means I can save that money for something else. And I won’t pay taxes when I make a withdrawal for eligible health care expenses either – which I could do now or later – even in retirement.*
**HSA contributions and earnings are free of federal income tax but may be taxed by California or New Jersey. The money you put in the HSA can be used to pay for qualified medical expenses (refer to IRS Publication 502 on a tax-free basis.

My extra helper – the Dependent Care FSA
My kids are in different schools now. The youngest starts later and gets out earlier, but my oldest starts earlier and gets out later and then has soccer practice. I can’t be in two places at once, but the DCFSA can. With my FSA funds, I can pay for before and after-school care, day camp, even babysitting when I need some extra help.
Best of all, I get to use my pre-tax dollars to pay for those expenses, which is like getting a discount in a sense. The only thing I need to do is submit my receipts for reimbursement.*

I’ve got big plans for my retirement: some travel to see family, but a few bucket-list trips, too.
I’m protecting those plans by fully funding my Health Savings Account. I try to aside the maximum amount each year because I'll be reenrolling myself and my wife in the Advantage+ medical option.
I contribute pre-tax dollars, and I won’t be taxed when my balance grows. And, I won’t pay taxes when I use the money for eligible health care costs — which I could do now, but plan to do only in retirement. After all, Medicare won’t cover everything, and I don’t want a big medical expense to derail my dreams.*
